Today my boyfriend has taken over my blog to review the GlossyBox for Men Winter 2011Edition for you all...Enjoy!

GlossyBox for Men! Winter 2011 Edition.

Ladies and Gentlemen I have the pleasure of writing on Sophie is made up's blog! In case you don't know, my name's Ryan and I'm Sophie's boyfriend :)

Most morning's, I hear a doorbell and have to run downstairs and open the door to the postman who usually delivers loads of packages and parcels, 99% of the time for Sophie!

It so happened that the postman came quite late in the day once I had already set off for work so when I got back, there was a note for me to pick up a package from the post office depot about 10 minutes’ drive away from the house, again, in Sophie's name!

The next day I picked it up early in the blisteringly cold morning and to my surprise, it was a GlossyBox for MEN! I remembered Sophie telling me about GlossyBox making one for men and me thinking, finally! Something for me! lol..

I got home after work and opened the packaging to find a warm stone coloured GlossyBox, filled with 8 products nestled between some black, crimpled paper with a well presented information card.

The men’s edition Glossybox will come quarterly and will feature an expert’s wish list of top-picks for the season ahead! There is a mixture of high end brands you may know and other brands which you may not have heard of before, but are chosen by experts for our consuming pleasure.

Within the Winter 2011 Edition GlossyBox, I received;

As my hair is currently buzzed cut to a grade 1, I could not test the Goldwell Lagoon Jam Volume Gel as there is hardly any hair to try it on! I will save it for the New Year when I shall grow it back again and get back with the results! I must admit, it is handy to have a 25ml pot of gel in your pocket as my hair style would usually consist of really short sides and a rather spiked up Mohican on the top and back! Handy for when you need a quick touch up!

When I opened the GlossyBox, I was really interested in the Shaveworks, The Cool Fix Gel because when I do shave, sometimes I can suffer from irritation right afterwards. I used this product and found that after shaving, it gave me a cooling-tingle sensation which actually felt really nice! The scent was fresh and was absorbed into the skin really quickly. As for reducing razor bumps and treating ingrown hairs, I will have to continue testing it over a longer period of time, but I am sure men out there would appreciate this product, especially those who suffer from ingrown hairs!

I was also interested in the Murad Clarifying Mask as I suffer from sensitive skin, which breaks out when I use stronger, non-sensitive products. The Murad Clarifying Mask has within its natural ingredients, a sulphur acne treatment which is great news for the acne sufferers out there, of which I am one! After applying the mask, I left it on for about 10 minutes and found that if you looked in the mirror, you could see where the mask had drawn out any excess oil from the skin! Afterwards, I washed it off with warm water and my face felt smooth and supple! I would recommend you moisturise afterwards if you have sensitive skin!

With a large collection of men’s perfume, I must admit I was quite pleased when I saw two different Yves Saint Laurant vials of perfume to test out; The La Buit de L’Homme and L’Homme! Again, very handy as you can test out perfumes you may never have thought to try! Out of the both, I would say I preferred the classic L’Homme as it wasn’t too overpowering as it radiated a warm woody scent. If however you wanted a more spicy oriental woodland scent then I would recommend the La Brut de L’Homme.

Handily, GlossyBox provided within this Winter Edition a MONU, Virtu Energy Rub which I could only describe as a soothing massage gel! It states that it is good for calming any bruising or inflammation and will nourish and freshen you skin! I got Sophie to give me a quick shoulder massage and the first thing that struck me was the scent, Oriental infused woodland perhaps! It was quite a thin gel that your skin soaks up quick quickly! Immediately I felt a cooling sensation afterwards and in the morning, I must admit my shoulders felt great! Definitely one to try!

I took two products into the shower which was the Monu, Virtu Conditioning Body Wash and the Goldwell, Duelsenses for Men Hair & Body Shampoo! The Goldwell shampoo was amazing! So amazing, I used it twice in one shower session! The scent was fantastic, subtle hints of vanilla and other soothing fragrances, and my hair (what there is of it lol) feels really clean and shiny! Came out the bottle a clear gel and felt light and was easy to lather! GlossyBox, you did well with this one!

The Monu Virtu body wash really took me by surprise! Came out a pearlescent white and once I had lathered it up, the fragrance put a smile on my face! A sweet lemon scent which I felt if it was a cake, you would eat it! It left my skin feeling soft, smooth and moisturised. Very happy again with this product.

Overall I was extremely pleased with the items within the Winter Edition GlossyBox! There is an obvious niche market for these and I am sure men country wide would appreciate a better grooming experience by trialling, and potentially purchasing full size versions of these products!
